HOW DO I INSTALL JFAX COMMUNICATOR?
If you're reading this file, you've already done most of it. The JFAX
Communicator is a stand-alone application. Simply drag it anywhere you
like, and it's ready to work. You may even leave it in the folder it's in
now.
You will also see the JFAX SEND 1.01 print driver in this folder. The
print driver is a Chooser extension used to send faxes from the desktop.
Simply drag it on to the closed system folder and your Mac OS will do the
rest. If it asks you for permission to perform a task, click "OK".
Congratulations! You have finished installing.

A. LISTENING TO YOUR VOICE MAIL
Voice mails arrive in your e-mail as file attachments. First, you must
download the attachment from your e-mail onto your hard drive.
Each e-mail client (that's e-mail software) has slightly different
protocols for downloading attachments; if you need help downloading
attachments from your e-mail client, specific instructions for several
e-mail clients appear at the end of this Read Me document. Once you've
downloaded your files, please follow these instructions:
Standard Method
1. Open JFAX Communicator.
2. In the File menu, choose Open.
3. Find the attachment file using the dialog box.
4. Select the file.
5. Click Open.
Shortcut #1:
Once you have downloaded the file, double-click the file attachment icon.
JFAX communicator will open and load the file.
Shortcut #2:
Once you have downloaded the file, click and drag the file attachment icon
ONTO the JFAX Communicator icon.
JFAX Communicator will open and load the file.
If you get an error message using the first two methods, try the standard
method. If an error message occurs then, make sure the file has the proper
extension. An extension is a three-letter tag preceded by a period that
identifies a document's file type. Extensions are a PC protocol that JFAX
Communicator Software requires in the file name in order to launch that
file. For voice files, the extension is .gsm. For fax files, both .jfx or
.tif work. An example of voice mail file name, including the extension,
is: voicemail.gsm

C. SENDING A FAX DIRECTLY FROM E-MAIL
1. Open your e-mail client (e-mail software).
2. In the body of a new message, compose the text to be faxed.
3. When you are ready to send it, type in the destination fax number(s) in
the address field, using the following format:
destination_fax_number@jfaxsend.com. The destination fax number is
composed of the country code, area code and phone number, without an
international access number.
For example, if you were to send a fax to the Chicago number 1 (312)
555-1212, you would address an e-mail to the fax number
13125551212@jfaxsend.com. It works the same way with international fax
numbers; all you need is the country code and fax number, plus
"@jfaxsend.com" without the quotes. Do not use any punctuation, spaces, or
international access codes when typing the number.
4. Enter anything you like in the subject line. It is for your own
reference, and but some mail servers (e.g., AOL) require a subject line.
5. Send the message.

D. SENDING A FAX FROM AN APPLICATION
1. Compose the document you wish to fax in any application (e.g, Microsoft
Word).
2. Open the Apple menu.
3. Select the Chooser.
4. Double-click the JFAX SEND printer driver.
5. Return to the application.
6. From the FILE menu, select Print, or click the printer button.
A printer screen will appear. There are two ways faxes can be sent using
this screen. One is longer but safer; the other is a shortcut.
1. Under Destination, click the To File button.
2. Click Save.
3. A dialog box will appear, prompting you to name and save the file. ***
After the name you give your file, type in ".jfx" or ".tif" without the
quotes. These extensions are PC (non-Macintosh) protocols that JFAX
Communicator uses to launch and send your documents. *** Remember where
you saved the file.
4. Open your e-mail client (e-mail software).
5. Compose a new message.
6. Attach the saved .jfx or .tif file to the new message.
7. Type in the ADDRESS as follows:
When you are ready to send it, type in the destination fax number(s) in the
address field, using the following format:
destination_fax_number@jfaxsend.com. The destination fax number is
composed of the country code, area code and phone number, without an
international access number.
For example, if you were to send a fax to the Los Angeles number 1 (213)
555-1212, you would address an e-mail to the fax number
12135551212@jfaxsend.com. It works the same way with international fax
numbers; all you need is the country code and fax number, plus
"@jfaxsend.com" without the quotes. Do not use any punctuation, spaces, or
international access codes when typing the number.
8. Enter anything you like in the subject line. It is for your own
reference, and but some mail servers (e.g., AOL) require a subject line.
9. Send the message.
SHORTCUT
This is a more convenient path for customers who use MAPI-compliant e-mail
clients. Known active mailers include Eudora and Claris.
1. Under Destination, click the To Mail button.
2. Then select the Choose Mailer button.
3. A dialog box will appear, prompting you to find and then click on the
e-mail client you will use to attach the document. If the e-mail client is
compatible (MAPI-compliant), the SEND button will light up. Select the
destination fax number by using the phonebook.

stores files.
1. Compose a fax in any program you wish.
2. Open the Apple menu.
3. Select Chooser.
4. Double-click the JFAX SEND print driver.
5. Return to the application.
6. From the File menu, select Print, or click the printer button.
7. Click New.
8. Fill in the required fields.

the Print screen.
